The fort worth prairie runs under Fort Worth: thin, rocky alkaline clay over limestone bedrock. Mature canopy here is mostly live oak and cedar elm, with Shumard oak where there is more depth. Root plates here are wide and shallow because there is nowhere to go down — limestone is often less than two feet under the grass.

Because we are already working nearby, scheduling in Fort Worth is usually easy — River Oaks (4 mi), Westover Hills (5 mi), Sansom Park (5 mi) and Westworth Village (5 mi) are all on the same route.

How much does tree service cost in Fort Worth?

Trimming $250–$1,200, removal $300–$3,500 depending on size and access, stump grinding $95–$600, land clearing $1,500–$6,000 per acre. Access moves the price more than height.

How soon can you get to Fort Worth?

Estimates usually within a couple of business days — Fort Worth is 0 miles from our Fort Worth base and on our regular route. Hazards move to the front.

When can oaks be pruned?

July through January. Texas A&M advises against oak pruning Feb 1 – Jun 30 because of oak wilt. Paint any oak wound immediately, whatever the season.

Why are my leaves yellow with green veins in Fort Worth?

Iron chlorosis. Fort Worth soil runs about pH 7.8–8.3, and at that alkalinity iron is chemically locked up. It is a soil problem, not a disease, and chelated iron corrects it.

Why Fort Worth homeowners call us

Tree work is one of the few home services where the cheapest bid is genuinely dangerous. An uninsured crew that drops a limb through your roof leaves you filing on your own policy, and a crew that tops your oaks leaves you with a bigger problem in five years than the one you started with. We are insured, we send the certificate before we book, and we do not top trees.

The other half of it is diagnosis. A good share of what we get called to look at in Fort Worth does not need what it was quoted for — it needs deadwood out, a soil correction, or nothing but water and time. Our Certified Arborist visit in Fort Worth is free, and a second opinion before a four-figure removal is worth having.

Timing oak work in Fort Worth

Oak wilt is present across North Central Texas, and the single most important rule is timing: the Texas A&M Forest Service advises against pruning oaks between February 1 and June 30, when sap-feeding beetles are active and fresh cuts are how the fungus gets in. If an oak has to be cut in that window — storm damage does not wait — every wound gets painted immediately. We schedule non-urgent oak work in July through January.

FAQ

Tree service in Fort Worth — common questions

Is there a minimum charge?

There is a practical minimum because getting a crew and equipment to Fort Worth costs the same whether the job takes one hour or four. If you have several small jobs, bundling them into one visit is much better value.

Can you work around my schedule?

Usually. Most residential work happens on weekdays during business hours, but we can often arrange early starts or a specific day if access, pets or gates require it. Commercial properties routinely get after-hours or weekend scheduling.

Do you charge extra for difficult access?

It is priced into the quote rather than added afterwards. Access is the single biggest cost driver in this trade, which is why we look at every job in person instead of quoting from a description.

Will you damage my lawn or sprinkler system?

We plate or mat soft ground before anything heavy crosses it, and we ask you to flag sprinkler heads and low-voltage lighting, which do not show up on a utility locate. Some rutting is possible on saturated ground — if it happens, repairing it is on us.

Can you work near power lines?

Up to a point. Anything in contact with a service drop or a primary conductor is the utility's to clear first — we do not cut energised lines and neither should anyone who is not a qualified line-clearance crew. We handle everything outside those clearances.

What payment methods do you take?

All standard forms — card, check, cash and bank transfer. On larger jobs a deposit is normal with the balance due on completion, after you have seen the finished work. We do not ask for payment in full before starting.

What happens to the wood chips?

They leave with us by default. If you want them, say so — chip is good mulch, it is free, and it is better for beds than most of what is sold in bags. Just keep it off the trunk.

Do you clean up afterwards?

Completely. Brush chipped and hauled, wood removed or stacked as you prefer, ground raked and blown off. We walk the site with you before we leave. Clean-up is included in the quoted price — it is not a line item that appears later.

Timing

Tree care calendar for Fort Worth

When to do what in Fort Worth. Timing is the cheapest tree-care decision there is.
WhenWhat matters
Jan–FebBest window of the year for structural pruning. Trees are dormant, the framework is visible with the leaves off, and crews are less booked.
Feb 1–Jun 30Do not prune oaks. Paint any unavoidable wound immediately — storm damage included.
Mar–MayStorm season. Straight-line winds find weak unions first. Deadwood and over-extended limbs are worth clearing before it starts.
Jun–AugHeat and drought stress. Water deeply and infrequently; the thin soil over limestone here dries from the bottom up. Watch for iron chlorosis.
Sep–OctRoot growth restarts as soil cools — the best planting window and a good time for soil correction.
Nov–DecLeaves down, structure visible. Removals are cheapest now: lighter canopy, firmer ground, less rigging.
