How a removal is actually planned
Every removal is decided by one question: where can the wood go? If there is a drop zone — open ground clear of the fall path — a tree can be felled whole and it is the fastest, cheapest option. If there is not, and in most residential yards there is not, the tree comes down in pieces, each one either dropped into a small clear area or roped down under control.
That is where the price differences between quotes usually come from. A crew planning to rig a limb over your roof is pricing a different job from one planning to drop it and hope. Ask any bidder how they intend to get the wood over the fence line — the answer tells you a great deal.
Insurance is not a formality
Tree removal produces more uninsured-loss disputes than any other home service. If an uninsured crew puts a limb through your roof, your homeowner's policy is your only recourse and your premium takes it. Ask for a certificate of insurance naming general liability and workers' compensation, issued directly by the insurer — not a photocopy. We will send ours before we book.

Set up and protect
Drop zones marked, plywood over soft ground or hardscape, vulnerable planting covered.
Take it down in order
Top-down: limbs first, then the spar in sections, rigged where there is anything below worth protecting.
Clear the site
Wood and brush loaded out, ground raked and blown. Stump grinding happens the same visit if you want it.

Tree Removal — frequently asked
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in North Texas?
On private residential property in most of our area, no permit is needed for a tree in your own yard. Trees in the right-of-way (between sidewalk and street), protected or heritage trees under a local tree ordinance, and anything on commercial or platted-development land are different — several cities in Tarrant County do regulate those. We check the current ordinance for your address before we quote, and we will tell you if a permit is required.
Will my insurance pay for tree removal in North Texas?
Generally only when a tree has damaged an insured structure. A healthy tree you want gone, or a dead tree that has not fallen on anything, is a homeowner expense. Once a tree is on the house, most policies cover removal from the structure plus the repair. We photograph everything before we move it so you have documentation.
Do you offer discounts for multiple trees?
Effectively yes — the second tree on the same visit costs less than it would on its own because setup, travel and haul-off are already covered. If you have several trees needing attention, get them all quoted at once rather than one at a time.
Can you work near power lines?
Up to a point. Anything in contact with a service drop or a primary conductor is the utility's to clear first — we do not cut energised lines and neither should anyone who is not a qualified line-clearance crew. We handle everything outside those clearances.
How soon can you get to my property in North Texas?
Estimates in North Texas are usually within a couple of business days. Scheduled work typically runs one to two weeks out depending on season — spring and post-storm periods are busiest. Hazard situations get moved to the front of the queue.
What happens if it rains on my scheduled day?
We reschedule. Saturated ground means ruts and, more importantly, compromised anchor points and footing — nobody should be aloft in a tree in a North Texas thunderstorm. You get a call, not a no-show.
Do you charge extra for difficult access?
It is priced into the quote rather than added afterwards. Access is the single biggest cost driver in this trade, which is why we look at every job in person instead of quoting from a description.
Do you clean up afterwards?
Completely. Brush chipped and hauled, wood removed or stacked as you prefer, ground raked and blown off. We walk the site with you before we leave. Clean-up is included in the quoted price — it is not a line item that appears later.
